Match preview: Eintracht Frankfurt v Vfb Stuttgart
By: Pete | September 25th, 2009
Stuttgart travel to Frankfurt tomorrow to take on in-form Eintracht Frankfurt. Unbeaten thus far in the season, Eintracht sit in 6th place with 2 wins and a boatload of draws.
We all know the deal; Stuttgart is struggling mightily and could really REALLY use all 3 points. After a frighteningly difficult DFB win in extra time on Wednesday (with pretty much a full squad against a 4th league side) Stuttgart need to find a way to get out of their current funk. Lots of comments and suggestions from all of you the other day about what needs to be done to fix the current problems (thanks for all the feedback.) It’s unclear whether Lehmann is fully fit from his chest or spine injury but Ulreich will be set to go if need be.
This stretch is a big test for Stuttgart; not only because they NEED all the league points they can get, but to see if they can remain energetic and fit during this busy period. They’ve played pretty much every 3 days for the past couple of weeks and will continue to do so with Bundesliga and Champions League matches coming up. Think they’re up for the challenge? Hate to be the pessimist, but if history tells us anything, they didn’t fare too well balancing domestic and CL competition last time they were in such a position. Here’s to hoping they’ve been able to learn from that past experience.
Prediction: Eintracht Frankfurt 1 VfB Stuttgart 1

Great game. Who’s this Walch kid?

@Kris
Clemens Walch was bought in 2008 from RB Salzburg. He is an offensive midfield player and has played a few times for the Austria U-20 team. He’s been playing for VfB II since his transfer and apparently he’s impressed. Over the 1+ seasons in the 3rd League he has 6 goals in 29 games.
On the game…
Finally, a performance we can be proud of. Hopefully we can build on this win and get some much needed momentum. On to Romania!Posted from

Cool. I wasn’t able to watch the game, only follow online. How good were Schieber’s goals? Were they slop or did he create and finish? I really like how this kid plays! Might be better to combine him and Pogreb instead of Cacau?

Schieber’s first goal was gifted to him by Nikolov but his second was a beauty. He had to put the ball in through a small gap between six Frankfurt legs and he did it. The cross from Boka was class too and was never handled or cleared by the Frankfurt defence which allowed Schieber to go for the shot basically. And we all know about Hitzl’s hammer, but did you see the way Khedira set him up. Touch of elegance I say. Up Stuttgart.
