Tasci locked up to 2014
By: Pete | August 31st, 2009
Stuttgart have re-upped Serdar Tasci’s contract to 2014; it was set to expire in 2010. It’s been a pleasure watching him grow and mature these past few years, especially satisfying when it’s home grown talent that comes up through the ranks. His leadership qualities are already showing through, having already donned the captain’s armband when Hitzlsperger is out. Nice move to lock him up for a long time.

Hey Pete! Great to have someone reporting on die Schwaben once again! (and actually giving an opinion at that…same couldn’t be said for the last person)
On Tasci…It’s wonderful that we have locked him up long-term as he has progressed very well over the last couple of seasons, and will no doubt improve with more Champions League experience. The realist in me also finds positive in more leverage against potential suitors. Many big teams (Arsenal, Juve, etc.) have shown interest in him over the past couple of seasons, and I feel a move will be inevitable. If that is the case, I’d like to get as much cash as possible for him. In any case, very glad to see him still with the red chest stripe!

Hi Peter,
Thanks for the posting and well wishes. I agree it’s nice to have a bit more leverage in having him locked up long term. It’s an unfortunate reality that mid-level teams like Stuttgart are in some ways like a farm club to the bigger clubs. But if Babbel can parlay a deal as lucrative as the one they got for Gomez then I’m all for it. That being said it’s nice to have him for the foreseeable future and as long as they stay in CL contention they’ll always be an attraction to players.Posted from

Have you heard anything about Klose to Stuttgart rumors? Skysports has it, haven’t seen it elsewhere.
