a good move for Manuel Fischer
By: 21 | January 8th, 2009
For those who follow younger players under development, Manuel Fischer is a name familiar to them. The nineteen year-old striker has come out through the VfB system and has shown reason for optimism. However playing time has been a challenge for the German U19 international and with this in-mind they loaned him to Bundesliga second division club TuS Koblenz for the balance of the year. Taking it in-stride he said: “The important thing is that I play. That’s why I made the decision to take this opportunity and play in the second division.”
Markus Babbel said of the move:
“It will be good for Manuel’s development if he plays regularly. I know from personal experience that a loan spell can be very positive. My period at HSV was very good for me personally back then.”

All the best to Fischer.
21, it has been confirmed – VfB youth team coach Rainer Adrion will be the new Germany U-21 coach. It has been confirmed by the DFB today after a meeting and a lengthy phone conversation with the VfB sporting director Horst Heldt. I first saw the news on the Stuttgarter Zeitung website. They first broke the news before every other news outlet picked up the news!
More details here (no, it is not Stuttgarter Zeitung…it is where I came across the official confirmation) – http://www.spox.com/de/sport/fussball/dfb-team/0901/News/rainer-adrion-wird-wohl-doch-trainer-der-u21-nationalmannschaft.html
It really happened after all in the end. And to imagine the Germany U-21 are paired into which group for the European U-21 Championships this summer…England, Spain and host nation Finland.
