Ciprian Marica hobbled up

By: 21 | January 12th, 2009

Markus Babbel and company have reason for concern as Romanian international Ciprian Marica pulled up lame during training with a thigh injury and immediately returned to Germany for treatment. The extent of the injury was revealed as full muscle tear and the recovery is expected to be a lengthy one for the twenty-three year-old striker who transferred to VfB in the summer of 2007 after stints with Shakhtar Donetsk and Dinamo Bucureşti. Initial reports list him as doubtful for the UEFA Cup match against Zenit Saint Petersburg on February 19, which would obviously rule him out of Bundesliga matches against Borussia Monchengladbach, Bayer Leverkusen and Hannover 96.

This puts great doubts over Marica’s possible transfer to Olympiacos. My club definitely doesn’t want to transfer in a player unavailable for service.
